Dr. McTeer earned his B.B.A and Ph.D. in economics from the University of Georgia; where he went on to teach for 2 years following the completion of his degrees. In 1968, Dr. McTeer began an illustrious and notable 36-year career with the Federal Reserve System, which was highlighted by 14 years as President and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. During his career with the Federal Reserve System, he was a member of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) with Alan Greenspan. He has taught economics at notable universities, including University of Richmond, Virginia Commonwealth University, and John Hopkins University. He currently resides as Distinguished Fellow for the National Center for Policy Analysis. Prior to joining the NCPA, Dr. McTeer was Chancellor of the Texas A&M University System for approximately 2 years. The System is comprised of 9 universities, 7 state agencies, 25,000 employees and a budget totaling $2.5 billion. The following are some of Dr. McTeer's career highlights:
