RemotePlus ™ is FT Interactive Data's financial data server for Windows ® and UNIX ® workstations. RemotePlus integrates with your applications, such as Microsoft ® Excel, and other analytical software. RemotePlus communicates with FT Interactive Data's host server system, letting you look up and retrieve global financial and research data.

RemotePlus accesses an enormous range of current and historical security information, including current and historical pricing, descriptive, and corporate actions data on over 3.5 million securities worldwide, covering virtually every market and instrument type.

Unlike data services designed to download files or provide terminal access, RemotePlus offers:

• Ad Hoc Online Access-Whether you use the RemotePlus Excel software interface, or integrate RemotePlus into your own Windows application, RemotePlus simplifies the look up and retrieval of global securities data into your application.
• Custom Data Delivery-When you use the Fixed Format File Generator (FFG) utility (included with RemotePlus), you can define record formats, scheduled data download times, and security lists. Custom Data Delivery at Your Fingertips-You needn't wait for a programmer or data vendor to develop or customize a service to meet your unique needs. FFG lets you create or modify the list of data items and/or securities retrieved and set the time of delivery.
• Textual and Coded Values-RemotePlus offers coded data (e.g., exchange code "1") and equivalent textual items (e.g., New York Stock Exchange). Textual items provide the meaning of coded items with the data retrieved.
• Variety of Identifiers-Use whatever security identifiers are appropriate - tickers, CUSIP ® or SEDOL numbers, local codes, and ISINs (as available), or a combination - without multiple requests or special procedures.
• Use Your Own or Predefined Security Lists-RemotePlus accesses security lists stored on your PC or workstation, letting you easily value and analyze portfolios. You can create your own lists using Excel or any text editor, or use one of FT Interactive Data's predefined lists, providing elements such as index constituents or asset types.
• Security Lookup-RemotePlus includes a "lookup" feature that lets you retrieve security identifiers and data item mnemonics from FT Interactive Data's system.

RemotePlus provides three options for communicating with FT Interactive Data's host server system.

• Internet-FT Interactive Data supports direct customer access to RemotePlus via the Internet. This can be a good solution for intermittent usage from any organization with a direct connection to the Internet (usually a leased line), because it eliminates the need for communications equipment dedicated to RemotePlus.
• Dial-up-FT Interactive Data supports dial-up communications at speeds up to 56k bps, using several public data networks. A toll-free number is available in North America, and local access numbers are available in major financial centers world-wide. RemotePlus dials the telephone number automatically when needed, using predefined connection scripts. Two separate access numbers are supported, with the alternate number automatically used if the primary number fails or is busy.
• Leased Line-For applications involving more intensive usage and higher data volumes, a leased connection to FT Interactive Data may provide more predictable performance. FT Interactive Data supports a variety of leased communications options.
