First Rate Investment Systems is the developer and provider of portfolio analysis and performance measurement software for many of the largest financial institutions in the United States. The Texas-based firm has a staff of experts with more than 300 years of collective experience in the investment performance measurement industry. The First Rate Performance ® suite of applications provides complete portfolio tracking and reporting solutions specific to the needs and workflow of institutions with large numbers of individual client portfolios. First Rate Performance ® was one of the first performance measurement systems available in a Web-based environment, and is used by more than a third of the largest custodial banking institutions in the United States as well as insurance companies and institutional investment firms.

 
FEATURES

The First Rate Performance suite of applications is designed to enhance the portfolio tracking and reporting abilities of any large institutional investment or consulting firm. First Rate Performance offers a powerful and efficient performance measurement solution that can be customized for personnel at every level of an organization. Two of the performance applications available are:

  • First Rate SnapShot provides quick, easy access to portfolio data customized for the specific end user. With a standard web browser, non-sophisticated users can access portfolio data and create high quality client presentations.
  • First Rate BackOffice is the key to accurate, AIMR compliant performance reporting. Designed to simplify the support of sophisticated performance systems, BackOffice facilitates real-time data edits, composite maintenance, account specific batch reporting, audit and compliance reporting, and much more.

First Rate Investment Systems also boasts capabilities such as:

  • Performance specialists - Staffed by performance measurement specialists focusing exclusively on the development of performance analysis tools, used primarily by bank trust departments and more recently adopted by two of the largest retail brokerage service providers in the United States
  • Dedicated client service - Recognized in the Spaulding Group's Performance Measurement Survey (Winter 2001), where First Rate received the highest marks of any performance measurement vendor for client service.
  • AMTrust Experts - More than one third of the First Rate Service Bureau staff are former users of the AMTrust/PACE system. To date, the First Rate Consulting team has built six different interfaces to the AMTrust system for various clients and has converted tens of thousands of accounts from the old AMTrust IPM system into First Rate Performance. We have five institutions using First Rate Performance with AMTrust and generating monthly performance returns with accurate returns for more than 90% of all accounts immediately upon receipt of the final monthly data extract - allowing them to generate client performance presentations on the next day.

 
DELIVERY

First Rate Performance can be delivered as an Installed application or through a Service Bureau hosted solution:

First Rate Installed - the First Rate Performance suite of applications can be leased on an annual basis and installed on the servers of a client institution. First Rate will provide sufficient support to facilitate running the First Rate Performance suite locally at the client institution, completely maintained and operated by the client's technical staff.


First Rate Service Bureau - First Rate offers a highly secure and fault-tolerant data center for hosting of the First Rate Performance suite of applications. Many First Rate client institutions use this facility and the First Rate Operations staff to host the First Rate Performance solution and to handle all data loads and standard data scrubbing responsibilities. All First Rate Service Bureau relationships include a strict Service Level Agreement that insures fast response times and complete disaster recovery support.

 
COST

First Rate Service Bureau pricing is based on the number of accounts maintained in the First Rate Performance database. This pricing strategy encourages open distribution of the First Rate Performance applications to internal and external clients, as well as providing unlimited access to all components of the First Rate Performance database and different data tiers. The portfolio-based fee includes ongoing leasing of the most current versions of the First Rate Performance software, hosting of the First Rate Performance system and support for data loads and calculation. There are no annual maintenance fees, additional hardware costs, storage fees, documentation fees or upgrades costs.


The Installed version of First Rate Performance runs in-house on hardware supplied by the client institution. First Rate provides a customized installation that interfaces directly with the client institution's portfolio accounting system and the client supplies all the resources for updating and maintaining the First Rate Performance database. License fees for the use of the First Rate Performance suite are charged quarterly based on the number of portfolios maintained in the First Rate Performance database.
