Since March 16, CAPIS has transitioned to almost every employee working remotely, so we thought we’d share our home-office views and  how our employees have kept busy. We’ll continue to share more “CAPIS Views” in the coming days, so be sure to check back for updates here on the website or on our LinkedIn.

Ray Prisco, Fixed Income Trader | Dallas, TX

What’s the best part about the new working situation?
A relaxed dress code and the significantly reduced commute time.
What do you miss about working in the office?
I miss overhearing the witty banter and market color among the fellow traders and the computer set up on the trading floor.
How are you keeping yourself busy?
I have been refining my culinary skills, spending time with my son, and Facetime/Zoom with family and friends.
Best tip for working remotely?
Avoid opening any potential malicious emails and having a strong wifi password!
What would you say to those working on the COVID-19 front lines?
We are trying to do our part to stay away and stay home so we don’t make a bad situation worse for all of you, thank you.

Caran Chaney, Client Service Representative | Dallas, TX

What’s the best part about the new working situation?
I have a long drive to/from work so I am not at all missing that.
What do you miss about working in the office?
My CAPIS Family.
How are you keeping yourself busy?
Playing with my new puppy, Sky. (Sky for her Sky blue eyes)
Best tip for working remotely?
Get into a routine, get dressed as if you were going to work (well, a bit more casual), start at the same time, take lunch and end at the same time.
What would you say to those working on the COVID-19 front lines?
I am grateful for all you are doing/have done. Thank you!

Christopher Hurley, Director of Institutional Sales | Dallas, TX

What’s the best part about the new working situation?
My son, Ashton, and daughter, Heather, have finished school, so their nocturnal ways make for quiet mornings. I get to see my family for lunch, which is nice, and I can take my laptop outside to get fresh air.
What do you miss about working in the office?
I miss the camaraderie with the teams and having a beer at the Crafty Irishman after work.  I hope it is still open when we come back!
How are you keeping yourself busy?
Watching re-runs of the Mavericks and Ozark. Cooking fantastic meals with my lovely wife Holly. Practicing a tutorial from the great Carol Kaye (of the Wrecking Crew fame) to improve my jazz repertoire. My Fender Jazz Geddy Lee Signature bass and Music Man Stingray 5 bass are pictured behind me.
Best tip for working remotely?
Have a good internet connection and learn how to cut your own hair.  I was starting to look like geriatric Tom Hanks in Castaway until I finally got it cut!
What would you say to those working on the COVID-19 front lines?
An enormous thank you. My mother was a career RN, as are both my sisters. These are very hardworking and dedicated people who are asked to risk their health for ours, and we appreciate them.
