Gold lower with silver and copper up slightly. WTI Crude and Brent Oil Futures higher. Natural Gas is lower. $ is higher vs Euro, higher vs. Pound and higher vs. Yen. US 10 year Treasury price 122.06 with yields higher since Monday morning with the yield at 2.688%. Prices as of 8:15 a.m. EDT.

Date Points:

Yesterday saw 1083 stocks rise and 1818 fall on the NYSE. NASDAQ saw 964 rise and 2100 fall.

The SP 500 remains below its 50 day simple moving average and its 200 day simple moving average. The Russell 2000 is still below its 50 day simple moving average and 200 day simple moving average. All three indexes are now above their 10 and 20 day moving averages. All three indexes failed at their 5 day moving average yesterday.

The QPI10 Day Moving Average of Breadth (10DMA) moved to buy last Monday at 2549.69. For a move to a buy from cash, the 10DMA needed to have two days in row above +200 which happened last Monday.

Yesterday saw the Dow Jones Industrial Average, S&P 500 and the Russell 2000 struggle for the first time in quite a while.

December PPI is due out at 8:30 a.m. EDT to be released and expected to fall to -0.1% from 0.1%. Came in at -0.2%.

The NY Empire State Manufacturing Survey is due out at 8:30 a.m. EDT as well and is expected to rise to 12.2 from 10.9. Came in at 3.9.

Politico:

The government shutdown remains in effect and now workers have missed a payroll.

Fed speakers today include Minneapolis President Neel Kashkari, Kansas City President Esther George and Dallas President Robert Kaplan as reported by Bloomberg with no specific times.
